It was one of the closest cemetery to the town of Saturnia, from which it was separated from the river Albegna. It was explored and unfortunately plundered from 800, now you can visit about twenty Etruscan tombs dating back to the period from the seventh to the fifth century. B.C. The tombs, small in size, are characterized by a dromos (corridor access) ending in the burial chamber with a rectangular plan, covered in travertine; the latter is sometimes divided into two rooms by a large slab also of travertine.
The place is very charming, nestled in the woods of oak and sycamore trees, wrapped by a total silence. If you decide to go in April, the landscape is made even more fascinating by sycamore trees in bloom.
