Monte Penna natural Reserve

The reserve is almost completely forested, with the exclusion of small areas surrounding the farms. Near the village of Selvena there are chestnut trees of exceptional size. Birds such as the buzzard, tawny Owl and the common Owl live in the reserve. The fauna also includes mammals such as the fox, the porcupine, the wild boar, the roe deer, the weasel, the skunk, the Faina and the marten. Finally of great interest the population of bats in the caves near Castellazzara. With regard to art and history the council is to climb to the remains of the Rocca Silvana
