The Etruscans insediaronono early as the sixth century BC in the area of the lake Accesa, thanks to the presence of neighboring mineral deposits of silver, lead, gold and ferrous materials, although the latter in amounts rather poor. The Etruscan industrial district developed on the nearby hilly area: still remain many traces in the natural park, where also are visible tombs and ruins of residential buildings.
The archaeological site located around the Accesa lake is located in the town of Massa Marittima, a distance of about 7 Km from the city along the Provincial Road 49 in La Pesta. The ancient settlement, investigated only partially, covers several dozen hectares.
The visit to the park is closely linked to the visit to the Archaeological Museum of Massa Marittima
